The Alloro Estate
Alloro Vineyard is 78 acres of uniquely contoured, loess-derived, Laurelwood soil. Located on a southwest-facing slope in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountains AVA, within the Willamette Valley, this very special place is the heart and soul of our wines and is personally cared for by Founder, David Nemarnik. We are an artisan, limited-production producer and are 100% Estate, crafting all our wines from this single vineyard. Our Burgundy trained, UC Davis educated Winemaker, Tom Fitzpatrick, is focused on producing elegant wines of balance, with character and soul, that capture the distinct personality of our terrior, the purity of its fruit, and that delight and inspire.
The winery was designed specifically for the production of small lots of handcrafted Pinot noir. The building is situated at the crest of the hill, in the center of our estate vineyard. Having the winery in the middle of the estate allows us to be intimately connected to what is happening with the vines during the growing season, and allows for very close monitoring of fruit ripeness and optimal harvest timing.
The building was designed and engineered to last for generations, constructed almost entirely out of concrete and Oregon Douglas fir. The traditional underground cellaring caves are energy efficient, taking advantage of the cool earth to maintain ideal cellaring temperature and humidity. Solar panels were installed to act as the primary source of energy for winery operations. The winery was designed by Architect Larry Ferrar and was completed in time for the 2003 harvest.
Alloro, Italian for laurel, is the evergreen plant said to symbolize immortality in ancient times and often used as a symbol for peace today. Our estate vineyard and winery are located on Laurel Ridge in the Chehalem Mountains and the vineyard’s ancient basalt and loess soil is of Laurelwood Series. Alloro was chosen to reflect our founder’s Italian heritage and as a symbol of this very special place.

Our Chardonnay blocks are comprised of Dijon clones 76 and 96, grafted to Riparia Gloire rootstock.
Our Pinot noir blocks are comprised of clones 777, 667, 114, and Pommard, grafted to Riparia Gloire and 3309 root stocks.

Crown Point Estate Selection is made from 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec.
The 2016 Crown Point Estate Selection exhibits a heady aromatic array of baking spices, ripe red and black fruits, with deep intonations of earth and minerals. The palate is elegant and bright, with appealing acids and nuanced notes of savory mocha and dried herbs. Polished and seamless, the tannins finish with a comet-like trail of textural opulence highlighted by glossy flavors of baked berry pie and warm toast. Recommended drinking window: now through 2030s.The 2016 Estate Selection is representative of all five red Bordeaux varieties. The selection process starts in the vineyard and continues on through the winemaking process: only the best lots make the final blend. All blocks were harvested & fermented separately. The individual components were blended after 12 months in barrel. Total time in 225 liter French oak barrels was 26 months.

Deeply colored, the 2016 Estate Selection checks in as 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec that was brought up 26 months in 75% new French oak. Deeply colored, it has a smoking good bouquet of crème de cassis, smoke tobacco, lead pencil, camphor, and hints of chocolate. This gives way to a powerful, opulent Cabernet Sauvignon that has plenty of sweet tannins, a layered, multi-dimensional texture, no hard edges, and an awesome finish. I’d happily put this beauty in a lineup of top Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and blends.

There’s an impressive amount of complexity on the nose of this bottling by winemaker Adam Henkel, from crushed graphite and concentrated black strawberry to cinnamon pastry, licorice and a brush of herbs. The sip is intense, with leathery but chiseled tannins presenting flavors of charred black currant, licorice, black olive, dried flower and white pepper

Liminal WeatherEye Vineyard The Mountain Tower is made from 40% Cabernet Franc, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot.
All three of these blocks lie quite close together on the steep north-facing side of WeatherEye. Here, full ripeness is reached while preserving great varietal character and lively acidity.
Elegant and evocative aromas of red and black currants, dark plum, violet, Ugandan chocolate, wild tobacco, crushed vanilla bean, and dried thyme. Suave and poised on the palate, with beautifully complex black and blue fruit compote, crushed wild roses, clean tilled dark earth, and windblown herbs. This wine, though drinking great now, is still gathering power, and will age gracefully for many years to come.
Review:
The 2023 ‘The Mountain Tower’ combines Cabernet Franc (48%) with the remainder Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is study, well-structured wine with outstanding flavor and aromatic range. Tar, anise seed, dark chocolate shavings, red bell pepper and black rose petals all mark the nose. The palate is lush and soft on the tongue, with good underlying tension. Enjoy this beauty now and over the next ten plus years. Drink 2026-2038-
